Inspection of Emergency Exit Lighting

This course has been designed to give you the necessary knowledge to inspect emergency and exit lighting according to the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards.

This involves checking that the signage is functional and operation according to the AS/NZS 2293 Standard, which effectively involves inspection. Although batteries can be cleaned and replaced, any kind of repairs or installation can only be done be a licensed tradesman.

What's Involved

Emergency lighting is an integral part of a buildings infastructure, as it assists people in vacating a building if there's an emergency. It relates to the AS/NZS 2293 Standard and National Construction Code (NCC), which involves public buildings being issued with a Certificate of Occupancy. This usually requires the building to be tested every six months.

This 1 day course will provide you with skills to assess the functionality of the exit lights to ensure they are working as they should, while also conforming to the Standard. This involves simulating a loss of mains power and then observing the results. Likewise, you'll check for hazards, if the pictograph shown is correct and the appropriateness of the sign being used.
